Juliana: "Hi, I would like to say that I am so proud that I accomplished what others told me was impossible to finish. I’m known to be a doer as well a dreamer and a thinker. I always made myself think that I was doing wonderful even if I was not. Talking about my grades in high school, some teachers said I couldn’t be successful and that I should give up. I said no and I accomplished all the classes my junior year but there is always a ‘but’. I wasn’t successful with one subject which was math. “What a horror!”, I said to myself trying not to let my low self-esteem kick my confidence out. It just sort of made me doubt myself which I already did enough with my own family doubting me my whole life. I was my only hope. I had to go to “PLC land” and I had to drop the big news to my parents which changed nothing, absolutely nothing. Until I got there I had more self-pity for myself, I felt unsuccessful. I grew in depression and it hurt me so much.
Okay here comes the good news. Well, it all started with a prayer and it turned to an angel to save me, a messenger from God in a form of a gorgeous woman, the founder of CKC. INC. Mrs. Powell, she gave me hope, strength, value, comprehension, companionship and love she cared and still does it until this day she motivated me too strive to do my foremost excellence one of the best experiences of my senior year of high school she would always check up on the kids of CKC and individually would help us in our studies if we needed a tutor or more practice anything she would address our concerns about the school and our worries in our subject that we would struggle in. Even though I graduated in December I was so proud of myself and Mrs. Powell as well as other people who played part of my high school years even though, some words I would hear was you won't ever make it or I don't believe in you, you're a woman and Mexican you can't and won't accomplish any of those crazy dreams you have and that put me down. However, I got up and realize yes I am a woman and Mexican and a graduate and this is just the beginning I have more things in my list of goals, thank goodness I made a list of goals, but all thanks to Mrs. Cool Kid."
